Accident – Death – Obituary News : DORAL, FLORIDA (WSVN) – A woman from Daytona Beach has been taken into custody on charges of child neglect following allegations that she left her three-year-old son unattended for a period of six hours while she underwent cosmetic surgery in Doral.
Law enforcement officials were called to 8045 NW 104th Ave. at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Thursday after a young boy was discovered wandering the complex on his own.
A concerned neighbour found the child asleep on her doorstep around 4:00 p.m., while another resident reported witnessing the child leaving an apartment on the third floor earlier in the day, according to the arrest report.
Surveillance footage obtained by authorities showed the child exiting the apartment at 1:13 p.m. and wandering the corridors unsupervised until he was discovered. Further investigation revealed that the child’s mother, identified as 25-year-old Jessica Renteria, left the Airbnb-rented apartment at 10:12 a.m., indicating that her son was left unattended for a duration of approximately six hours.
Police located Renteria at a hospital in Doral, where she had undergone cosmetic surgery. Despite her claims that she had arranged for a friend to look after her son, the friend denied being asked to provide care for the child.
Renteria has been charged with third-degree child neglect for failing to ensure adequate supervision and care for her son during the time she was away.
