Accident – Death – Obituary News :
RUSSIA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — New York State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic one-vehicle accident that occurred in the town of Russia on Thursday, June 27. The incident resulted in the unfortunate death of one individual.
The authorities from State Police in Herkimer were alerted to the situation at around 4:50 am on Thursday, following reports of a single-car accident on Southside Road in Russia. Initial findings from the preliminary investigation indicate that the driver of the vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Jeremy Antonuk from Cold Brook, was travelling east on Southside Road when he lost control of the vehicle.
Subsequently, the vehicle veered off the northern shoulder of the road, colliding with a tree before coming to a stop. Tragically, Jeremy Antonuk was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
In response to the incident, State Police were supported by the Star Ambulance of Prospect and the Poland Fire Department. The collaborative efforts of these emergency response units were crucial in managing the aftermath of the accident.
State Police have confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided to the public.
