Jasper’s mother, Melissa Barnes, spoke to News 12, describing her son as a kind and loving boy who had dreams of becoming a firefighter when he grew up.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when a sudden storm caused the family’s boat to capsize near Sherwood Shores on Lake Texoma.
Despite wearing a life jacket, young Jasper became entangled in the ropes underneath the overturned boat, leading to a tragic outcome.
Tragically, Jasper was pronounced dead at the hospital later that evening, leaving his family and community in mourning.
