– Young man disguised as elderly person to take flight to Canada.
Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 24-year-old Indian man, masquerading as an elderly individual, was apprehended at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Canada, as per reports from Indian federal police.
The individual, identified as Guru Sewak Singh, was taken into custody after authorities grew suspicious of his youthful appearance, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of India disclosed in a statement released on X.
“Alert CISF personnel intercepted a passenger attempting to travel to Canada under the guise of human trafficking and impersonation,” CISF stated on X. “The passenger tried to deceive officials by posing as an elderly person and using falsified documents.”
Singh, donning glasses and a turban, was on the verge of embarking on an Air Canada flight utilising the passport of a 67-year-old individual named Rashvindar Singh Sahota.
Airport personnel detected discrepancies in the texture of his skin and the youthful timbre of his voice did not align with the characteristics of an elderly person, as reported by the Economic Times.
Upon closer examination of Singh’s passport, officials discovered that he had artificially coloured his hair and beard white and was only donning glasses to feign old age.
Following an interrogation, Singh disclosed his true identity and presented a digital copy of his authentic passport. Subsequently, he was handed over to Delhi Police for further investigation, according to the CISF.
Under Indian legislation, Singh could potentially face penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment for his act of impersonation.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in 2019 when a 32-year-old individual attempted to board a plane bound for New York from the same New Delhi airport by disguising himself as an 81-year-old using a wheelchair, as detailed by the New York Post.
The individual, identified as Jayesh Patel, aroused suspicion among officials due to his markedly younger appearance compared to the age listed on his counterfeit passport.
