Gerald Don Miller : Winnsboro Man Arrested After Multi-Agency Investigation

28th June 2024 – The Sulphur Springs Police Department has apprehended 56-year-old Gerald Don Miller from Winnsboro on charges of “Impersonating a Public Servant.” The arrest follows an investigation that revealed Miller had allegedly posed as an agent of Child Protective Services to gain access to female victims.

The case came to light earlier in June when the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Caucasian male pretending to be a CPS worker in order to interact with a child. The suspect was identified as Gerald Don Miller, and he managed to deceive a guardian into granting him access to the child. Detailed descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle were obtained during this incident.

Further probing into the Lamar County incident uncovered a similar occurrence in Sulphur Springs back in November 2023. Authorities noted that the suspect’s description and vehicle matched the information gathered in Lamar County, leading to a search warrant being issued for Miller’s residence in Winnsboro, Franklin County. Subsequent searches yielded additional evidence linking Miller to the Sulphur Springs case, resulting in his arrest and transfer to the Hopkins County Jail.

While awaiting the setting of his bail for the two counts of Impersonating a Public Servant, authorities are urging individuals who may have interacted with Miller under the guise of being with Child Protective Services to contact local law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing, with collaborative efforts from the Sulphur Springs Police, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Child Protective Services, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Lamar County investigators.
