SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — In a search that has now extended over two weeks, authorities in Spalding County, Georgia, are still on the lookout for missing 82-year-old Garland Warren. Warren disappeared on June 10, along with his loyal dog Smokey, while his wife was away at an appointment.

Warren, a resident of Laurens County, embarked on a journey that took him to Crawford County, where he was last spotted. Surveillance cameras in Roberta captured multiple sightings of Warren on the day he went missing.

Despite an extensive search effort, Warren’s truck was not located until 11 days later, on June 21. The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) sprang into action when the FLOCK camera identified the vehicle parked near a Dollar General store. Deputies arrived at the scene promptly but found no sign of Warren.

Following this development, a collaborative effort involving various law enforcement agencies was launched on June 26. The focus shifted to the area where Warren’s truck had been spotted on Wallace Road. Sheriff Darell Dix of Spalding County emphasized the thoroughness of the search, which included combing through wooded areas, checking water bodies, and investigating abandoned structures.

The search took a hopeful turn when the Butts County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a dog resembling Smokey found near Ga. Highway 16 at Windy Lane. The individual who had been caring for the dog reached out to authorities after learning about Warren and Smokey’s disappearance. It was confirmed that the dog was indeed Smokey and has since been handed over to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

Despite this positive development, Warren’s whereabouts remain unknown. While citizens are advised against conducting independent searches, law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads to locate Warren.
