An 80-year-old woman, identified as G. Anuammal, was tragically found murdered in her home in Erivattam village near Vaniyambadi town in Tirupattur on Friday. Anuammal, who had been living alone since the passing of her husband, was a beloved member of the community.
On the day of the incident, Anuammal’s daughter, Sampurnam, grew concerned when her mother did not visit as usual. Upon arriving at her mother’s house, Sampurnam made the horrifying discovery of Anuammal’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, with visible injuries to her nose and neck.
Local residents immediately alerted the authorities, leading to the involvement of the Alangayam police. Anuammal’s body was swiftly transported to the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur for further examination. In a bid to gather evidence, sniffer dogs from Vellore were brought in to assist, with fingerprints being lifted from the crime scene.
A formal investigation has been launched, with a case officially registered by the police. Specialised teams have been assembled to track down and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime.
