A 27-year-old male, identified as Dekota Wayne Humphrey, has been taken into custody by authorities in Calhoun County on charges of raping a 69-year-old woman. The incident occurred on County Road 311 in Calhoun County during the afternoon hours of Thursday.
Following the alleged assault, the suspect reportedly stole the woman’s vehicle and fled the scene. The stolen truck was later found wrecked on County Road 314, prompting a pursuit by two Calhoun County deputies and their canine unit, K9 Rooster.
K9 Rooster successfully tracked down and apprehended the suspect as he attempted to escape into the woods. Dekota Humphrey now faces a range of charges, including Domestic Violence-Aggravated, Rape-Assault with Intent to Ravish, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of An Accident, DUI, No Drivers License, No Insurance, and Expired Tag.
Authorities have set a bond amount of $500,000 for Dekota Humphrey as he awaits further legal proceedings in connection with the alleged crimes.
