Bellingham Police are on the lookout for a man who viciously attacked a woman while she was out jogging on a trail at Lake Padden Park over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday, leaving the community in shock and alarm.

The recent attack has raised concerns about safety in Bellingham and the need for increased vigilance among residents, especially those who enjoy outdoor activities like jogging or walking in parks.
Authorities are urging residents to be cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately to prevent further incidents.
Suspect Arrested for Attempting to Lure Children
In a separate incident earlier in the week, a 53-year-old Bellingham man was taken into custody for attempting to lure two children into his car outside a candy store in Birch Bay.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the man’s alarming behaviour, prompting a swift response to ensure the safety of the children.
Details of the Luring Attempt
According to deputies, the man approached the children outside the C Shop, offering them candy and toys while making disturbing statements about never seeing their parents again.
He even went as far as retrieving a frisbee from his trunk in an attempt to lure the children into his vehicle.
Fortunately, a vigilant parent intervened and prevented any harm from coming to the children.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect, identified as Corey Cardwell, was located and arrested by detectives following the incident.
Despite denying the allegations, Cardwell was positively identified by witnesses and charged with five counts of luring.
He is currently held at the Whatcom County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
