Alfred Ellsworth : Denton Man Arrested for Road Rage Gun Display

A Denton man was taken into custody last week on charges of disorderly conduct following an altercation on the road where he allegedly brandished a firearm.

The incident took place around 6:20 p.m. on June 21 when a concerned citizen dialed 911 to report being followed by another vehicle after a road rage incident. The altercation occurred as the caller was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection of Robson Ranch Road and Interstate 35W. The confusion over the right-of-way led to a near miss between the caller and the other driver, identified as 78-year-old Alfred Ellsworth.

Following the close call, Ellsworth allegedly started tailing the caller. The aggrieved party decided to pull over and confront Ellsworth, but was shocked to see a gun visibly displayed on the center console of Ellsworth’s vehicle. According to the caller, Ellsworth made threats about using the weapon, prompting the caller to retreat back to his vehicle. Ellsworth continued to pursue the caller, prompting him to contact emergency services and drive to the nearest police station.

Upon police intervention, Ellsworth claimed that he was merely following the caller to seek justice over the potential accident. However, authorities confirmed that they had not received any prior communication from Ellsworth regarding the incident.

Ellsworth was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $2,500, which he promptly posted.
