Accident – Death – Obituary News :

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) – A man who fled the scene of a vehicle burglary, leaving his Burger King order behind, has been arrested.

On Friday, June 14, deputies responded to a call at Bay Heights Park in Englewood shortly after 10 p.m. in which a man stated that he and his friends discovered someone breaking into their vehicle after they had been out on a boat.

As the victim approached the vehicle, he could see that the rear window had been smashed out. The male suspect inside the vehicle, later identified as Vladimir Belyshev Jr., fled on foot toward S. McCall Rd. as the victim attempted to confront him.

The suspect left behind an e-bike with a silver cup attached containing an unknown alcoholic beverage and ice, along with a backpack full of clothes, an energy drink, cold Bud Light, and a fresh Burger King order containing three double-bacon cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich. These items were collected and submitted as evidence.

Through investigative means, detectives were able to determine that Belyshev, on the same e-bike, had stopped at the Dearborn Corner Market nearby and purchased two Bud Light cans and another beverage from the business. He also entered the business with a silver cup, matching that of the one located on the e-bike at the scene, and filled it with ice while inside.

The local Burger King was unable to provide any record of the order that had been left behind.

Deputies located Belyshev on June 26 at his jobsite and spoke with him about the incident. While questioning Belyshev, he gave a full confession to that crime as well as two others, including one in Sarasota County’s jurisdiction.

“While some may not find this to be a ‘Whopper’ of a case, I can assure you that those who had their belongings taken and their windows smashed certainly do. The commercial might say ‘Have it your way’, but in Charlotte County, you can only have it if you have earned it. Now this ‘Big King’ is residing in a new castle… my Charlotte County Jail,” said Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell.

In addition to two out-of-county warrants, Belyshev is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond on the following charges:

  • Burglary of Unoccupied Conveyance (Felony) x2
  • Criminal Mischief with more than $1000 Damage (Felony) x2
  • Criminal Mischief between $200 – $1000 (Misdemeanor)
  • LARC Petit Theft 2nd Degree (Misdemeanor) x2
  • Grand Theft of a Firearm (Felony)
  • Violation of Probation
