Accident – Death – Obituary News : Students in Nakhon Ratchasima were alarmed by a foul smell emanating from a house in the Mueang district, prompting them to investigate. To their horror, they discovered a decomposing body belonging to 47-year-old Thanakrit, the owner of a two-storey concrete house that had been converted into student dormitories.

The discovery, made yesterday, led to a swift response from Nakhon Ratchasima police and rescue volunteers from Sawang Metta Khorat. Thanakrit’s body was found in the downstairs living area, in an advanced state of decomposition, emitting a strong and unpleasant odour.

According to reports, Thanakrit had taken his own life by hanging himself. The body had been left undiscovered for over five days, causing the foul smell that initially raised suspicions among the students. One of the students, 21-year-old Ae, had noticed the lingering odour for about three days before deciding to investigate further.

Upon realizing the source of the smell, Ae and a friend informed the dormitory owner, who happened to be Thanakrit’s father. They forced open the locked room and were met with the grisly sight of the decomposing body. Police had to use incense to mask the smell before removing the body for an autopsy at Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.

Preliminary findings from the autopsy indicated that there were no signs of foul play or evidence of a crime. Thanakrit’s father, who lived next door, revealed that his son lived alone and worked as a tool sharpener and general labourer. Despite sharing meals occasionally, they did not have much communication, leaving the father unaware of any issues his son might have been facing.

Ae described Thanakrit as a helpful individual with a speech impediment that made conversations difficult. Their interactions were limited to greetings, and they did not engage in deep conversations. The cause of Thanakrit’s death remains a mystery to those around him.

In light of this tragic incident, it is essential to reach out for help if you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress.
