ROWAN COUNTY — Deputies are currently in pursuit of an individual who stands accused of sexually assaulting a minor back in May.

The investigation was initiated following a call to authorities regarding the well-being of a young juvenile in the eastern region of Rowan County on the 18th of May, as per a statement released by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the juvenile in a residence alongside an 18-year-old male, identified as Gold Hill resident Stewart Allen Callahan-Fletcher.

Further inspection of the property revealed incriminating evidence suggesting a sexual relationship between the two individuals, leading to the arrest of Callahan-Fletcher on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for supplying illicit material to the juvenile, as outlined in the statement. Records from the sheriff’s office confirm that Callahan-Fletcher was remanded to the Rowan County Detention Center and granted a $3,000 bond. Subsequent investigations delved deeper into the alleged sexual misconduct.

Following a forensic interview and examination of physical evidence, it was determined that Callahan-Fletcher engaged in sexual intercourse with the juvenile on the day of and the day before his arrest by the deputies, according to the statement. New arrest warrants were issued on Tuesday for Callahan-Fletcher, citing two counts of first-degree statutory rape and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. However, investigations revealed that the accused had been released from custody sometime between May 18th and Tuesday.
