KARACHI: In a tragic turn of events, a man arrived at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi on Wednesday evening with the lifeless body of his three-year-old daughter for medico-legal formalities, according to the police.
The man, identified as Shahzad, recounted to the authorities that his estranged wife, who lived separately with their daughter, had handed over the body to him. Shockingly, the father claimed that his wife had called him to the Edhi morgue in New Karachi, where she gave him the body and swiftly made her escape, leaving him with the harrowing task of dealing with the situation alone.
Upon inspection, it was revealed that the young girl, named Amna, bore visible signs of torture, sending shockwaves through the community.
Investigation and Efforts to Locate the Mother
Central Senior Superintendent of Police Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi disclosed that upon receiving the distressing news, law enforcement swiftly made their way to the hospital. Shahzad informed the investigators that his estranged wife had absconded following the handover of their daughter’s body. The father also mentioned that his wife had initiated legal proceedings for ‘khula’, indicating a troubled marital relationship.
Efforts are now underway to track down the mother, as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind this heart-wrenching incident.
New Karachi Station House Officer Shaukat Awan revealed that Shahzad was unable to provide any concrete information about his wife’s current whereabouts. The police are eagerly awaiting the post-mortem report to shed light on the precise cause of Amna’s untimely demise.
