Rashane Pellew : “Police Sky Operation Uncovers Firearm in Berbice”

In a focused ‘Eyes in the Sky’ and ‘Cordon and Search’ operation orchestrated by intelligence and law enforcement officials, a 9mm firearm was confiscated during an early morning mission in the Central Police Station District on Tuesday.

The operation, led by the Regional Divisional Detective Officer for Region Six, targeted Lot 24 Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice. Upon their arrival, officers engaged with Delcina Lampkin, a 31-year-old Businesswoman, to clarify the purpose of their presence. Lampkin cooperated and consented to a thorough search of the two-storey building.

During the search, officers spotted a male individual attempting to flee by exiting a window on the upper floor of the residence. The suspect, later identified as Rashane Pellew, a 26-year-old Labourer residing at the location, jumped to the lower level and tried to escape towards the rear fence. Law enforcement personnel quickly pursued and apprehended Pellew.

Upon searching Pellew, officers found a black 9MM pistol with one magazine. Pellew was promptly informed of his offence, cautioned, and taken into custody. Further exploration of the premises unveiled a female and eight cellular phones.

Authorities proceeded to arrest Pellew and three other individuals present in the residence, transporting them to the Central Police Station. The seized firearm and mobile phones were secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation. Rashane Pellew is set to face charges related to the firearm discovery and other potential offences. Police inquiries are ongoing as they gather crucial information for the case.
