Police: Suspect arrested for fatal shooting of store clerk in Leesburg

The individual accused of fatally shooting a store clerk during an armed robbery in Leesburg has been apprehended on Wednesday, as per reports from the police. The Leesburg Police Department confirmed that the suspect, a 25-year-old named Alex Lopez from Wildwood, was taken into custody in Kissimmee by the FDLE Crime Task Force. The tragic incident transpired on May 30 when Lopez entered a convenience store in Leesburg and discharged a firearm towards the store clerk. Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the scene, the clerk, identified as 51-year-old Raied “Ray” Shihadeh, was found unconscious on the floor with at least one visible gunshot wound. Shihadeh was subsequently airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries overnight, as stated by the authorities.

When officers arrived at the store, they said they found the clerk, identified as 51-year-old Raied “Ray” Shihadeh, unconscious on the floor with at least one apparent gunshot wound.
Shihadeh was airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital, where he died overnight, police said.

The Leesburg police had issued an arrest warrant for Lopez for murder/homicide-premeditated, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use/possessing a firearm during a felony.
