Accident – Death – Obituary News : Namibian police have reported a series of violent incidents over the weekend, including three murders, two attempted murders, and three suicides across various regions. The most recent murder took place in the Kavango West region on Sunday afternoon in Mamono village. The victim, Philip Lirunga (59), was fatally stabbed with a traditional knife on his left arm and back, resulting in serious injuries that led to his death while being rushed to the clinic from Mpora. The suspect remains at large, and investigations are ongoing.

In another tragic incident on Saturday in Khomas, a murder occurred near the four-way stop in Havana. Following a report of a robbery, officers responding to the scene discovered a man bleeding from the nose. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, in Erongo, an unidentified adult man was found dead along a road with multiple stab wounds. The victim, dressed in light gray jeans and a black sweater, was last seen at a local bar the night before. The police are currently searching for suspects in connection with this murder.

In Keetmanshoop, a fatal stabbing occurred at Ten-Ten bar in Ileni location on Thursday. The victim, who had asked for a cigarette from other patrons, was involved in an argument that escalated into a violent altercation resulting in his death. The suspect has been apprehended, and the investigation is ongoing.

Tragically, cases of suicide were also reported over the weekend in various regions. In Eenhana, the body of Junias Shifeleni (27) was found hanging from a tree in Ombili town. No suicide note was discovered at the scene. Similarly, in Otavi, Gert Alwayn van der Linde (28) was found hanging from a rope in his room at Klein Otavi farm. Police have informed the relatives of the deceased in both cases.

In Ondangwa, another suicide was reported at the Ongenga-Okatyali cattle post, where Petrus Sheimange (53) was found hanging from a tree. The deceased, a cattle herder, was last seen alive earlier that day. No foul play is suspected, and the next of kin have been notified.

In a separate incident in Kavango West, Joseph Haingura Kanyetu (39) allegedly committed suicide in Sikali village by drinking acidic water from a car battery. The tragic event followed a confrontation with village elders over allegations of impregnating his 27-year-old niece.

These incidents underscore the need for greater awareness and support for mental health and conflict resolution in communities across Namibia. The police are urging anyone with information related to these cases to come forward and assist in the investigations..
