LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Two individuals have been apprehended by law enforcement authorities in Laredo, Texas, for their involvement in a suspected street racing incident on Loop 20. The incident took place late in the evening on Wednesday.

According to reports, a Lieutenant from the Laredo Police Department witnessed two vehicles, a black Chevrolet Camaro and a blue Dodge Charger, stationary at a red light in the 2300 block of Bob Bullock Loop. The two cars then accelerated rapidly, giving the impression that they were engaging in a race.

The police lieutenant made an attempt to pull over both vehicles in order to address the situation. The driver of the black Camaro was identified as Nin Carmona, aged 21, while the driver of the blue Charger was identified as 27-year-old Luis Eduardo Cantu.

Subsequently, both individuals were arrested on the spot and charged with the offence of racing on a public highway. However, during a search of the black Camaro, law enforcement officers discovered a handgun containing live ammunition. As a result, Carmona faced an additional charge of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Following the arrests, both vehicles were impounded and have been placed under hold by the authorities.
