An incident that shook the community occurred at Hobie Beach on June 24, where the lifeless body of a young woman was discovered. After thorough investigations, the police have now identified the deceased as 19-year-old Linda Linda.
Details of the Incident
The heartbreaking discovery was made after Linda’s parents recognised her from pictures circulating on social media. They immediately contacted the authorities, leading to a formal identification process at Mount Road mortuary on June 27.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, shared that Linda resided with her family in Fairview, Gqeberha, prior to the tragic event. Initially treated as a potential murder case, the investigation took a different turn as evidence pointed towards a possible suicide.
Suspected Means of Death
It is believed that Linda took her own life using her father’s firearm, which was reportedly missing from its safe at home. Captain Beetge explained that the father suspects his firearm was used in the tragic incident.
Authorities are now on the lookout for the missing firearm, with suspicions that a passer-by may have removed it from the crime scene alongside Linda’s handbag. Captain Beetge issued a warning to the community, stating that tampering with crime scenes or possessing unlicensed firearms is a criminal offence.
