Accident – Death – Obituary News : A family in Gqeberha is grieving the loss of their beloved daughter after her body was discovered on Hobie Beach on Monday evening. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Eduvos student Linda Linda from Fairview, was confirmed as the deceased on Thursday.
Linda’s parents received the heartbreaking news on Thursday morning and visited the beach where their daughter’s life tragically ended. Initially treated as a murder investigation, further examination revealed that Linda may have taken her own life.
Thabiso, Linda’s father, recounted the events leading up to her disappearance. She had left their home on Monday morning, assuring him she would return by midday after collecting her academic transcript at Eduvos. However, as the day progressed, there was no sign of Linda and her phone remained switched off.
Describing his daughter as always cheerful, Thabiso mentioned that Linda had left the house carrying a bag, which concealed her actions from him. He was unaware of his missing firearm until Thursday morning, as it was securely stored in a locked safe.
Despite his efforts to locate Linda, including visits to friends and enquiries at college, Thabiso was left devastated upon learning of her tragic fate from the authorities. Linda’s mother, Ntombizandile, also appeared visibly distraught at the scene.
Captain Andre Beetge, a police spokesperson, disclosed that the investigation had shifted from a murder probe to a suspected suicide, with indications pointing to Linda using her father’s missing firearm. The weapon was not found near her body, prompting concerns of tampering at the crime scene.
Authorities issued a warning to the public against interfering with crime scenes or possessing unlicensed firearms. As Linda’s family prepares to notify relatives and arrange funeral services, the community is urged to respect the investigation process and cooperate with law enforcement.
Linda, who had a passion for the beach and was known for her vibrant personality, excelled academically in English and Mathematics during her final year of high school. Her family is left to mourn the loss of a young woman who touched the lives of those around her with her thoughtful nature and infectious joy..
