Lance Dell : Man Charged in Crash: Legal Consequences for Traffic Collision

An incident involving a single vehicle earlier this month led to the apprehension of a man from Marion County on charges of possessing drugs and a loaded firearm.

Allegations Against Lance Dell

Marion County resident, Lance Dell, aged 46, faces several charges, including the serious offence of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, classified as a Class Y felony.

Details of the Incident

On June 2, two state troopers responded to a one-vehicle accident north of Summit, where they found Lance Dell lying on the ground using his soft cooler as a pillow. His overturned vehicle was in a ditch.

Upon the arrival of a tow truck, Dell insisted that the vehicle be taken to his father’s residence. Despite being instructed by authorities to allow the operator to carry out his duties, Dell persisted in interfering with the process.

When Dell attempted to start the damaged vehicle, the motor fan shattered, sending shards towards the tow truck operator and troopers. Ignoring warnings, Dell continued to disrupt the scene.

Discovery of Illegal Items

During a search of Dell’s belongings, a trooper found a loaded needle containing methamphetamine, which Dell had concealed in his cooler. Additionally, a 9mm gun with ammunition and a marijuana pipe were also discovered.

Legal Ramifications

Besides the Class Y felony charge, Dell faces a felony count of possessing drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine) and several misdemeanours, including possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, obstructing governmental operations, disorderly conduct, and careless and prohibited driving. He has been released from the Marion County Law Enforcement Center after posting a $20,000 bond.
