FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A 32-year-old man from Arkansas, Darian Jones, has been taken into custody following a human trafficking operation at a motel in Fayetteville. The suspect was apprehended after allegedly dropping off a woman for paid sexual services at a local establishment.
Jones was arrested by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) on June 25 and has been charged with one count of human trafficking for commercial sex acts. He is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center.
According to an affidavit, law enforcement officials came across an online advertisement for prostitution that raised suspicions of potential human trafficking. An officer contacted the number listed in the ad and arranged a meeting at the Motel 6 in Fayetteville.
Upon arrival at the motel, Jones was observed dropping off the woman, believed to be a trafficking victim, around 3:30 p.m. The woman then entered a designated room while Jones departed from the premises.
Subsequently, the woman, upon being approached by the police, stated that she did not require any assistance and claimed to have been dropped off by a ride-sharing service. Shortly after, Jones was intercepted by law enforcement on North College Avenue.
During a search of Jones’s vehicle, officers detected the presence of marijuana and discovered a black sock containing pills that tested positive for cocaine. Jones was questioned by the authorities and reportedly claimed to have taken his friend out for food, after which he dropped her off at a different location.
Jones is currently being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 15 in Washington County for further proceedings.
