One of the victims in a suspected double murder has been identified as a star of a Channel 4 television show, it has been revealed.
The discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman in a home in Cannock on Tuesday (June 25) led to the street being cordoned off by police for several hours as forensics officers were called in.
Authorities have now confirmed that the victims are 22-year-old Lauren Evans and 24-year-old Daniel Duffield.
Daniel, known as a paramedic who appeared on Channel 4’s 999: On the Frontline, MailOnline reports, and his on-screen partner Ellie paid tribute to him, expressing her struggles in coming to terms with his tragic death.
Daniel featured in the eleventh series of the show, which documents the work of West Midlands Ambulance crews responding to emergency calls across the region.
Ellie, his crewmate and student paramedic, shared heartfelt words about Daniel, describing him as her best friend at work and one of her closest companions who always had a positive impact on those around him.
Expressing her grief, Ellie wrote, ‘Dan, I can’t believe you’re actually gone. We were meant to go out together this week and I was looking forward to seeing you. Even the phone call we had this morning an hour before you [were] gone I’ll never forget, love you forever Dan.’
On Facebook, Mr. Duffield’s sister Louise Duffield lamented the loss of her brother, highlighting his kind-hearted nature and the profound impact he had on those around him.
Staffordshire Police has initiated an investigation into the incident and has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over previous interactions with both Daniel and Lauren.
Detective Superintendent Nicki Addison expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and assured the community of ongoing efforts to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed their involvement in responding to the incident and the subsequent notification of authorities.
