Accident – Death – Obituary News : An alleged mentally unstable woman has been identified as the suspect in a recent arson attack on a bank in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. The incident, which took place at 10.21am on June 26, saw the woman dousing the bank with petrol before setting it ablaze. CCTV footage captured the suspect arriving on a red motorcycle and wearing a helmet. She then parked near an ATM, carried a blue petrol container, and pretended to use the ATM before igniting the fire at the bank’s entrance.

Authorities were able to trace the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Amornsuk, to her home where she threatened to set fire to her house. Relatives of the woman claim that she has been suffering from mental illness for many years. As a result, an arrest warrant is currently being prepared as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police Colonel Chanyuth Ruangdit, the head of the Chawang District Police Station, provided updates on the case and mentioned that the motive behind the arson attack appeared to stem from the suspect’s mental instability. There is no evidence to suggest any personal vendetta against the bank, and it was confirmed that she was not a customer of the bank.

Witnesses reported seeing Amornsuk purchasing petrol from a nearby gas station for 250 baht before using it to commit the arson attack. The police are now gathering evidence to request an arrest warrant from the Thung Song Provincial Court. Authorities are also working to verify the claims made by the suspect’s relatives regarding her mental health condition.

The incident has sparked concerns among locals, with many highlighting the importance of providing support and assistance to individuals dealing with mental health issues. The case serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those grappling with mental illness and the need for greater awareness and understanding within communities.

Overall, the incident sheds light on the complexities surrounding mental health and the impact it can have on individuals and their actions. As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served and that appropriate measures are taken to address the underlying issues at hand..
