On Monday, a 31-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on June 8 in Denver’s Barnum West neighbourhood.

The Denver Police Department announced on Wednesday that Simon Eugene Elijah Gurule was arrested in Denver, while the 16-year-old boy was apprehended in Arvada in relation to the death of Manuel C. Luque Quintana.

Authorities responded to the scene of the incident, located in the 500 block of North Sheridan Boulevard, at 6:26 p.m. on June 8. Quintana was found with gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Another woman who had also been shot was located near West Fifth Avenue and Zenobia Street and received medical treatment.

Investigations revealed that the shooting occurred when a suspect emerged from the passenger side of a vehicle and opened fire on Quintana and the woman, who were inside a parked car at the time.
