CHICAGO – A young man, Morris Smith, aged 19, has been taken into custody following allegations of fatally shooting another individual on the streets of Chicago, specifically on the Near West Side.

Smith has been officially charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of vehicular hijacking with a firearm, as per reports from the Chicago Police Department.

After being identified as a suspect in a fatal shooting incident that occurred on April 5, Smith was apprehended on June 24 in the 400 block of E. 111th Street.

According to authorities, Smith is accused of fatally shooting a 37-year-old man in the 1300 block of W. 13th Street.

He is scheduled to make an appearance in court on June 27 for a detention hearing.
