A disturbing incident unfolded in Shelbyville, as 32-year-old Michael Hunt was arrested for the tragic deaths of his wife and mother-in-law. The Shelby County man allegedly confessed to authorities that he had a sinister purpose in mind, stating that he had a \”job to take both females out.\”
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the Cropper area at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Friday. Hunt initially misled the authorities by claiming the incident occurred near a Baptist Church, but later directed them to the victims’ residence at 201 Pleasureville Road.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a deceased female with a gunshot wound to the head on the first floor of the house. Another woman, identified as Hunt’s wife, Emily Hunt, was found on the second floor with a similar injury. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she tragically succumbed to her wounds.
The second victim was identified as Heather Simmons, Hunt’s 56-year-old mother-in-law. Hunt, who exhibited signs of having blood on his clothing during the arrest, has a history of prior charges including drug offences, DUI, and disorderly conduct.
