Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 32-year-old woman has been arrested in Minnesota following the discovery of a deceased individual in the back seat of a vehicle she was operating. Margot Lewis, hailing from North Liberty, Iowa, was driving a Chevrolet Sonic on the eastbound lane of Interstate 90 in Olmsted County — approximately 100 miles southeast of Minneapolis — at around 7 a.m. on Saturday when her vehicle collided with the guard rails and crashed, as per a court complaint from the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

The deceased individual, identified as Liara Tsai, 35, from Minneapolis, was found folded inside a mattress in the back of the vehicle. Authorities found the body wrapped in a bed sheet, blanket, futon-style mattress, and tarp. The body was cold to the touch with no pulse detected, and a large wound on the right side of the neck, near the carotid artery, was observed by the police. The bed sheet also displayed dried blood stains.

An initial examination conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office postulated that the fatal injuries sustained by the victim were not a result of the car crash but preceded it. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department deemed the condition of the deceased as suspicious, indicating that the death did not stem from the motor vehicle accident.

Following the incident, Lewis was attended to by a passerby and subsequently taken into custody. She was charged with interference with a dead body or scene of death, and remains in detention as of Wednesday afternoon. Lewis made appearances at the Olmsted County Court on Tuesday morning and afternoon, with her next scheduled court appearance set for July 5. At present, no legal representation has been appointed for Lewis in this case.

In a subsequent update provided by the sheriff’s office on Wednesday, the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the initial cause of death as “multiple sharp force injuries.” Further investigations were conducted at a residence in Minneapolis believed to belong to the victim, revealing signs of violence within the premises.
