WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The search for 19-year-old Kaedian Tyshaun Allen, who has been missing since May 31, has entered its fourth week with officials shedding new light on their search efforts.

Allen disappeared after Winston-Salem officers attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. Despite the ongoing search, police have clarified that Allen is not wanted in a criminal investigation.

On Wednesday, Winston-Salem police closed The Quarry at Grant Park as investigators continue their search for Allen. Various officials involved in the search have provided insights into the tools and tactics being used.

Winston-Salem Police Chief William Penn highlighted the uniqueness of this case, noting that the last known location of Allen was at the quarry. He emphasized the city’s serious approach towards all missing persons cases and mentioned that this case stands out due to its location.

According to Chief Penn, the city typically handles around 30 missing persons cases a month, with the majority occurring on land. However, Allen’s case falls among the outliers.

The search efforts involve grid search tactics, community canvassing, and the use of camera footage to locate missing persons. Additionally, the Winston-Salem Fire Department’s water rescue team and the High Point Fire Department’s dive team are assisting in the search.

Various tools such as drones equipped with thermal technology, sonar devices like the Marine Sonic towfish, and a Deep Trekker underwater remotely operated vehicle with sonar and a 4K camera are being utilized in the search.

The collaborative effort includes multiple agencies such as the Winston-Salem Fire Department, High Point Fire Department, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Emergency Management.

As of now, police do not suspect foul play in Allen’s disappearance. Despite ongoing search operations, a community event scheduled to take place at Quarry at Grant Park is expected to proceed as planned.

Disappearance Details

On May 31, Winston-Salem officers attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations, including a fictitious registration. The vehicle evaded the officers, leading to a pursuit that was eventually called off. Subsequently, the vehicle was found abandoned at Quarry at Grant Park.

The driver of the vehicle, Tyrone Monte Eldridge, Jr., was arrested and charged with felony flee to elude. However, Allen, the passenger, remains missing despite extensive search efforts using drones, camera footage, and search teams on the ground.

Search Efforts

Following reports from Allen’s family that he had not returned home, officers initiated a search for him. The focus remains on locating Allen safely, with no intention of pursuing charges related to the May 31 incident.

Search operations have included foot searches, drone deployments, and water searches by the Winston-Salem Fire Department and other agencies. Tools such as sonar technology and underwater drones have been used to scour the area.

Despite the ongoing search, visitors to Quarry at Grant Park have been reassured that there is no immediate danger in the vicinity. The public is encouraged to contact law enforcement if they have any information that could aid in the investigation.

Allen is described as having brown eyes, black hair, standing around six feet tall, and weighing 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black over red Nike jacket, dark pants, and slides. Anyone with information on Allen’s whereabouts is urged to contact the authorities.
