An Indian American motel manager tragically passed away following a violent assault by a stranger in a motel parking lot in Oklahoma over the weekend. The perpetrator has since been apprehended by authorities.

The victim, identified as Hemant Mistry, aged 59, was savagely punched in the face after requesting the individual to vacate the premises, resulting in him collapsing to the ground. Video footage captured Mistry engaged in a dispute where he urged the man to depart from the property, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Mistry succumbed to his injuries at a local medical facility after law enforcement responded to the attack near I-40 and Meridian Avenue on Saturday around 10 PM. The assailant, identified as 41-year-old Richard Lewis, was taken into custody by Oklahoma police.

A user on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared, “Indian American, 59-year-old Motel Manager Hemant Mistry was fatally injured by a man who punched him in a motel parking lot in Oklahoma.” The user added, “The assailant struck Mistry, causing him to lose consciousness. Mistry was rushed to a hospital where he tragically passed away.” The post included a video depicting the assault on the Motel Manager.

Social media users expressed outrage over the incident. One individual remarked, “Many of these violent attacks are perpetrated by individuals of a specific race. Both ends of the political spectrum contribute to such behavior, with one side justifying it as ‘reparations’ and the other blaming Indians for job theft. The situation for Indians in the US is becoming increasingly challenging.”
