Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A tragic incident unfolded in Oklahoma as a 59-year-old Indian-American man lost his life after being punched in the face by another individual. The incident took place in a motel parking lot near Interstate 40 and Meridian Avenue on June 22, around 10 pm, prompting a call to the local authorities.
The victim, identified as Hemant Mistry, was the manager of the motel where the altercation occurred. Hailing from Gujarat, Mistry was involved in a confrontation with the accused, 41-year-old Richard Lewis, who ended up delivering the fatal blow after being asked to leave the property by Mistry.
Reports from the police indicated that Mistry immediately lost consciousness upon being struck by Lewis and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Mistry passed away at approximately 7.40 pm on June 23, succumbing to the injuries sustained during the altercation.
Arrest and Charges
Following the incident, Richard Lewis was located at a hotel in the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue and subsequently taken into custody by law enforcement. On June 24, Lewis was held on a $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail on charges of aggravated assault and battery.
Oklahoma City police stated that the exact reason for Mistry asking Lewis to leave the property was unclear, but it was evident that Lewis was unwilling to comply with the request, leading to the tragic outcome.
