MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A tragic incident unfolded in Iredell County on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by an 18-wheeler, as reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
identified as 63-year-old Calin Jay May, the victim lost their life in a fatal collision that took place along Interstate 77 near Highway 150.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred when a tractor-trailer travelling southbound on the freeway collided with May, who was walking on the roadway.
Authorities disclosed that the victim was wearing dark clothing, and the area was poorly lit, potentially contributing to the fatal accident.
Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that neither impairment nor excessive speed played a role in the collision. Consequently, no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the tragic event.
