The suspect, identified as Brian Gonzalez, was apprehended by a collaboration of Massachusetts State Police detectives, the Hampden District Attorney’s SAFE Task Force, and officers from the Holyoke Police Department.

Gonzalez stands accused of being involved in the tragic incident that resulted in the death of 31-year-old David Rivera from Springfield on June 1.

Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of High Street at approximately 2 a.m. on the fateful day. Upon arrival, they found one adult male with gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, and he was swiftly taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.

Tragically, a second victim, later identified as Rivera, was discovered in a parked vehicle near 300 High Street. Despite efforts to save him, Rivera succumbed to his injuries at Baystate Medical Center.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities secured an arrest warrant for Gonzalez from Holyoke District Court on charges of murder.
