Accident – Death – Obituary News :

An Indiana man’s ill-conceived attempt to deceive Atlanta police officers by providing a fake name during a traffic stop has landed him behind bars.

The incident took place when an Atlanta police officer pulled over a black Hyundai Sonata for a minor traffic violation in the vicinity of Chattahocohee Avenue and Ellsworth Boulevard on June 13. During the stop, the officer noticed that a passenger in the backseat was not wearing a seatbelt.

When asked to provide identification, the passenger claimed he did not have it on him and instead provided a false name and date of birth that matched the driver’s license of an entirely different individual.

The officer promptly handcuffed the man and escorted him to the patrol car, where a photograph of the legitimate license holder was displayed. Despite being presented with the evidence, the man persisted in asserting that the license belonged to him.

APD: Is that you?

Man: Yes, that’s me!

APD: Bro, that is not you.

Man: I’m telling you, that’s me!

The officer pointed out the man’s neck tattoos and questioned when he had gotten them done.

Man: You said, ‘When I get my tattoos?’ I had my tattoos since I was 15.

APD: There are no neck tattoos!

Man: Huh?

APD: Are you lying?

Man: I’m not lying to you!

APD: You just told me you had your tattoos since you were 15. There are no neck tattoos.

Man: When was that picture taken?

Subsequently, the man was identified as 37-year-old Tionte Strayhorn, hailing from Indiana. It was discovered that Strayhorn had two outstanding extradition warrants from the U.S. Marshals service and Howard County Sheriff’s Office for escape and drug-related offenses. In addition to these charges, he was also charged with obstruction and providing false information.

“Did you really think we wouldn’t uncover the truth?” the officer questioned Strayhorn before he was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
