The Jefferson County coroner has officially identified the young man who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Louisville. The victim has been named as Tayshawn Thomas, a 19-year-old resident of the city.
The fatal shooting took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at approximately 12:21 a.m., at the Derby Row apartments located on Bellamy Place, near 7th Street. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered Thomas inside the apartment, suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before being able to receive medical assistance at a hospital.
Shortly before this incident, another young man was also found shot in the 800 block of South Jackson Street, resulting in his death. Police have indicated that the second victim, believed to be in his late teens or early twenties, is separate from Thomas’s case, with no apparent connection between the two homicides.
