A 49-year-old PhD holder, identified as Ravi Yadav, was discovered dead at the residence of his female acquaintance in Goregaon, Mumbai. The woman alleges that Yadav took his own life by hanging himself. Yadav, a resident of Dombivli and an employee at a multinational pharmaceutical company, was found lifeless in the flat of his friend in Premnagar Society, MHADA Colony, Goregaon West, on June 24.
The exact circumstances leading to Yadav’s death are yet to be determined, as per the police. It was reported that Yadav frequently stayed at his friend’s flat. According to the woman’s statement to the authorities, Yadav had visited her as usual and she had been in another room until approximately 11 pm. When she entered the hall later, she was shocked to find Yadav hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta.
The woman mentioned that she, along with a female neighbour, attempted to untie Yadav and bring his body down. Unfortunately, the fastening loosened, causing the body to fall to the floor and resulting in injuries. Subsequently, a neighbour informed the society’s chairman, who promptly contacted the police.
Upon inspection, the police discovered a hanging noose around Yadav’s body. The body was then sent to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem examination. An accidental death report was filed on Tuesday, and the authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. It is too premature to speculate on the motive behind Yadav’s death at this juncture.
