Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man and his wife have been taken into custody on sex trafficking charges after a deputy discovered three young girls in North Highlands who were allegedly being forced into sex work by the married couple, according to Sacramento County sheriff’s officials.

The 46-year-old husband and his 35-year-old wife have been arrested on suspicion of using coercion or violence to compel individuals over the age of 16 into prostitution, as well as trafficking a victim under the age of 18, as stated in Sacramento County Jail records. Both of these charges are classified as felonies.

The husband is currently being held in custody with bail set at £2 million, while his wife’s bail amount has been established at £1 million.

Authorities have expressed concerns that there may be additional unreported victims of sex trafficking linked to the married couple.

The investigation was initiated when a patrol deputy encountered a girl near Watt Avenue and Winona Way in North Highlands on Sunday. The deputy determined that the girl was a victim of sex trafficking and promptly removed her from harm’s way. Later that same evening around 8 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported that the deputy returned to the location.

Upon revisiting the area, the deputy observed two young girls dressed in lingerie near a vehicle. Both girls were identified as 17 years old. The deputy engaged with the girls and discovered that they too were victims of sex trafficking.

Members of the sheriff’s special investigations bureau were called in to assist and determined that the two girls were being trafficked by individuals known to them as family friends. Subsequently, these family friends were identified as the married couple, whom the teenage girls referred to as their “street parents,” according to sheriff’s officials.

The suspects were located by detectives and taken into custody on felony sex trafficking charges. They were booked into the jail early Monday morning.

The husband is scheduled to appear for his arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court on Wednesday, while his wife’s court arraignment is set for Tuesday.

Investigators are urging anyone with pertinent information regarding this sex trafficking case to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
