Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a shocking development, authorities in Delhi have apprehended three individuals, including a woman, in connection with the abduction and trafficking of a one-year-old child. The incident took place near the Tagore Garden Metro Station in the capital city, where the child was allegedly kidnapped and subsequently sold to a 40-year-old woman named Shobha in Bihar’s Sitamarhi for a sum of Rs 3 lakh. The arrested suspects have been identified as Manish Kumar Gupta and Mohit Tiwari.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer, the Rajouri Garden Police Station received a distress call on June 13 reporting the abduction of the child while the family was asleep by the roadside near the Tagore Garden Metro Station. Poonam, a street vendor who sells goods at traffic lights, recounted the harrowing experience of her child being taken away by unknown individuals while she slept on a road divider that night.
Subsequent investigations by the police involved meticulous scrutiny of over 100 CCTV tapes from the vicinity, leading to the identification of Manish Kumar Gupta. Gupta was traced and subsequently arrested from his residence in Narela, situated in northwest Delhi. During interrogation, Gupta divulged that he had carried out the crime in collaboration with Mohit Tiwari. Tiwari, in turn, confessed to selling the child to Shobha in Sitamarhi.
Upon her apprehension, Shobha admitted to purchasing the one-year-old child for Rs 3 lakh. The authorities have indicated that the investigation into the matter is ongoing, with further inquiries being conducted to uncover additional details.
