Winston-Salem, North Carolina (WGHP) — Quarry Park in Winston-Salem will be temporarily closed on Wednesday as authorities intensify their search efforts for missing teenager Kaedian Tyshaun Allen, 19, who has been missing since May 31. Allen vanished after Winston-Salem police attempted to pull over a vehicle for traffic infractions. It is important to note that Allen is not a suspect in any criminal investigation.

Law enforcement officials have stressed that they are not treating Allen’s disappearance as a criminal case. However, they are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to locate him. To aid in the search, the Winston-Salem Police Department has secured additional resources and technology from federal and local partners.

Collaborating agencies include the Winston-Salem Fire Department, High Point Fire Department, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Emergency Management.

Timeline of Events

The incident unfolded at around 11:30 p.m. on May 31 when Winston-Salem officers attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple traffic violations, including fictitious registration. The vehicle evaded the officers, who decided not to pursue it. Subsequently, the officers lost sight of the vehicle, as reported by the Winston-Salem Police Department.

By 11:50 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located at Quarry Park, abandoned in the parking lot. The driver, identified as Tyrone Monte Eldridge, Jr., 20, was swiftly apprehended and charged with felony flee to elude, along with several traffic offenses. He was later released on a $5,000 secured bond.

Despite utilizing thermal drones, surveillance cameras, and conducting a thorough search of the area, law enforcement officials were unable to locate Allen, the missing passenger from the vehicle.

Search Efforts

Allen was reported missing by his family on Sunday after failing to return home. The Winston-Salem Police Department has made it clear that they are not pursuing any charges against Allen and are solely focused on ensuring his safe return.

Authorities have been combing through Quarry Park extensively, deploying a bloodhound, drones, and even searching nearby hospitals. Additionally, water search operations have been conducted by the Winston-Salem Fire Department and other agencies using sonar technology and underwater drones.

Despite the ongoing search efforts, officials have reassured the public that there is no immediate danger at Quarry Park. However, they encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Allen is described as a six-foot-tall individual weighing 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black over red Nike jacket, dark pants, and slides.
