The accused, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, has been charged with capital murder, according to court records. Reports from US media suggest that Wolf approached a mother wearing a hijab and inquired about her six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. She allegedly made racial remarks before grabbing the children.
The boy managed to break free from Wolf’s grasp, but she then pushed the girl underwater. President Biden, in a statement on June 24, expressed his sympathy for the family, stating, “No child should ever be subjected to a violent attack.”
Call for Hate Crimes Probe
The incident has sparked outrage among various groups, including the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR has called for a hate crimes investigation into the matter. The mother of the children, in a statement released by CAIR, identified her family as American citizens of Palestinian descent.

In a separate incident in October, a six-year-old Muslim boy was fatally stabbed near Chicago, with the crime directly linked to the conflict in Gaza, as per police reports.
