Hazel Nairn : “River Don tragedy: Woman’s body found after 18 months”

The body of Hazel Nairn, a 71-year-old woman who was swept into the River Don near Monymusk, Aberdeenshire, has been formally identified by police. Nairn was last seen on November 18, being swept away by the river while walking with her West Highland terrier, Rory.

Nairn and her friend had abandoned their car due to heavy rain and were attempting to walk home when the river burst its banks, leading to the tragic incident. Despite an extensive search operation involving divers and police helicopters, Nairn’s body was only recovered on May 7 this year, in Kemnay.
