LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5/Gray News) – Tragedy struck a North Las Vegas apartment complex as a gunman opened fire, resulting in the deaths of five people and leaving a teenage girl critically injured.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from KVVU, the North Las Vegas Police Department received a distress call from an apartment complex located in the 300 block of Casa Norte Drive at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two women, one in her early 40s and the other in her late 50s, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both women succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Further investigation revealed two additional female victims in their mid-20s and a male victim in his early 20s, all of whom were also fatally wounded in the shooting.
In addition to the deceased victims, a 13-year-old girl was found with a gunshot wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Suspect identified and Pursuit
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Eric Adams, attempted to flee the scene following the shooting, prompting a brief manhunt by law enforcement officers.
Authorities initially located Adams at a business situated in the 1600 block of Dwayne Stedman Avenue, where he was seen brandishing a firearm. Adams then evaded capture by fleeing into the backyard of a nearby residence.
End of Standoff
Despite repeated orders from law enforcement officers to surrender, Adams refused to drop his weapon and ultimately turned it on himself, resulting in his own demise. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The North Las Vegas community is left reeling from this senseless act of violence, as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the tragic incident.
