NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police have apprehended a suspect who reportedly brandished a firearm and threatened a woman while on a bus in East Nashville.
Law enforcement officers were called to the area of Main Street and Yeaman Place on Monday, June 24, following reports of a man waving a gun aboard a bus.
Upon arrival, the bus driver and multiple witnesses provided descriptions of the suspect. A female passenger claimed that the man was staring at her, and when she made eye contact, he produced a revolver and began shouting while waving it around.
The bus driver informed authorities that the suspect disembarked at Weiss Liquors in the 800 block of Main Street.
Police conducted a search of the vicinity and located the individual, identified as 53-year-old Enrico Groves, in close proximity to the specified location.
Upon apprehension, officers discovered that Groves was in possession of a revolver, an empty bottle of SKOL vodka, and exhibited signs of being heavily intoxicated.
Law enforcement officials noted that Groves displayed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, unsteadiness on his feet, and was behaving belligerently.
Due to his significant level of intoxication, matching the suspect description, and being found with a firearm, Groves was taken into custody by authorities.
Subsequently, Groves has been charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and public intoxication.
He is currently being held in jail on a bond set at £28,000.
