EULESS, Texas — A woman from North Texas was taken into custody on Sunday after she allegedly tried to drown a child at a local apartment complex pool while under the influence of alcohol, as per reports from the authorities.
Euless Police were called to the scene of a disturbance at the pool located in the 2500 block of Highway 360 at approximately 5:44 p.m. on May 19, 2024. Eyewitnesses stated that a heavily intoxicated woman, identified as 42-year-old Elizabeth Wolf, had made an attempt to drown a child and had a confrontation with the child’s mother.
Wolf was apprehended by officers as she attempted to flee the area and was subsequently arrested on charges of public intoxication. The mother of the victims, a 32-year-old woman, informed law enforcement that Wolf had questioned her about her nationality and the relationship between her and the two children playing at the pool. Upon confirming their relationship, Wolf allegedly tried to forcibly take hold of the 6-year-old son, resulting in a scratch on his finger when he resisted.
The mother then witnessed Wolf submerge her 3-year-old daughter underwater. Thankfully, the mother was able to rescue her daughter, who was coughing up water and calling out for help. Both children were examined by Euless Medics at the scene and were given a clean bill of health.
The mother also disclosed that Wolf had made derogatory racial remarks and cast doubts on her American identity. Euless Detectives collated statements from the mother and other witnesses. Wolf was formally charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charges, and the Euless Police Department suggested that the incident be treated as a hate crime.
