MIAMISBURG — Recently released body camera footage unveils the shocking discoveries made by police officers during the arrest of a man who was impersonating an officer in Miamisburg.
Springboro Police apprehended Dennis Meade, a 52-year-old resident of Middletown, on June 15 for pretending to be a law enforcement officer. The body camera footage captures the revealing contents found inside Meade’s vehicle.
Officer William Overholtz of the Springboro Police Department, acting on an alert about a Chevrolet Tahoe involved in a road rage incident in Miamisburg, spotted the suspect’s vehicle while monitoring passing traffic on the same day. Overholtz instructed the car to stop at a Kroger gas station parking lot and approached the driver, later identified as Dennis Meade.
A couple interviewed by News Center 7’s Taylor Robertson recounted a terrifying encounter with Meade on Interstate 75. They claimed that Meade attempted to force them off the road by using what appeared to be police lights and sirens. The couple managed to evade Meade’s dangerous actions and reported the incident to the authorities.
During the subsequent stop and search of Meade’s vehicle, officers uncovered alarming items such as a gun, handcuffs, a siren, and other police equipment. The discovery raised serious concerns about Meade’s intentions and actions on the road.
As a result of his deceptive behaviour, Meade is now facing charges for impersonating a police officer, a serious offence that undermines public trust in law enforcement.
