Over the weekend, a tragic incident unfolded at Hatchet Lake Denesuline First Nation, leaving a community in mourning. The Wollaston Lake RCMP responded to a call reporting a serious injury at a residence on Saturday evening.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the injured individual had been rushed to a local clinic for medical treatment. Tragically, the adult male victim, identified as 42-year-old Christopher Joseyounen, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the clinic.

An investigation by the authorities revealed that an altercation had taken place involving a group of individuals, leading to the fatal outcome. The victim’s family has been notified, and victim services have been extended to support them during this difficult time.

Arrests Made in Connection to the Incident

Following the incident, two women were arrested in relation to the altercation. 36-year-old Tricia St. Pierre and 18-year-old Tinnisha Josie, who are mother and daughter, have each been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

It was revealed that St. Pierre and Joseyounen had recently become engaged, adding a tragic layer to the unfolding events. The two accused individuals are scheduled to appear in Wollaston Lake court on June 26 to face the charges against them.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes unit is actively investigating the incident to gather more information and piece together the events leading to the tragedy. Anyone with relevant information is urged to come forward by calling 310-RCMP.
