A resident of Destin, Florida, has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred outside an apartment complex in the area. The victim, a 60-year-old man, was left paralyzed from the neck down as a result of the shooting.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Rettinger, 56, was taken into custody by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) on June 20. He is currently facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The shooting took place on June 14 at Sea Glass Apartments on Commons Drive in Destin. According to reports, the victim was shot three times, with one of the bullets hitting the back of his neck and causing paralysis. He also sustained two gunshot wounds to the back of his right shoulder blade.

Authorities believe that the shooting stemmed from an argument that escalated into violence. Video evidence captured by a nearby car shows the victim driving through the apartment complex’s parking lot in a white truck. As he stopped and opened his door, another truck, belonging to Rettinger, pulled up. The footage shows smoke and glass erupting from the victim’s vehicle before Rettinger fled the scene and contacted the OCSO to report his whereabouts.

Timothy Rettinger is currently being held in custody without bond as the investigation into the incident continues.
