Accident – Death – Obituary News : A shocking video has surfaced online showing a group of police officers nursing their injuries after being viciously attacked by a vigilante mob in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. The mob was demanding the custody of a rape and murder accused, sparking chaos and violence in the area.
The video, which has been circulating on social media, is accompanied by a false and communal claim that the accused individual is a Muslim named Hafiz Beg. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that the actual perpetrator is Subhash Bhil, not Hafiz Beg as falsely stated in the misleading posts.
Authorities at the Jalgaon Collector Office have confirmed that the accused is indeed Subhash Bhil, and not a Muslim as claimed on social media. Additionally, it was confirmed that both the accused and the victim belong to the same caste and community, dispelling the unfounded rumours circulating online.
The incident took place in Chinchkheda village in Jamner, Jalgaon district, where Subhash Bhil, aged 35, was arrested by Jalgaon Police for the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl. The accused had been evading capture for several days before being apprehended by the authorities.
Following Bhil’s arrest, a mob of enraged villagers gathered outside the police station, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in a violent confrontation that left at least 14 police officers injured in the line of duty.
According to a report by The Asian Age, the minor victim belonged to a tribal family in Chinchkheda village and was brutally assaulted by Bhil, who was a neighbour of the victim. The accused was captured on CCTV footage taking the victim to a temple hall before leading her to a secluded field where the heinous crime took place.
The authorities had filed charges against Bhil under sections 376 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Despite his attempts to flee, Bhil was eventually apprehended in Bhusawal, approximately 29 km from Jamner.
In light of the false claims spreading on social media, the Jalgaon District Collector Office clarified that both the accused and the victim are from the same community and caste, debunking the communal narrative being perpetuated online. The office confirmed that Subhash Bhil is not a Muslim, contrary to the misinformation being shared on social platforms..
