Accident – Death – Obituary News : An individual from Alabama who is suspected of being involved in the deaths of three individuals in Oklahoma and one in Alabama may potentially face severe consequences if found guilty. Stacy Lee Drake, aged 50, appeared before a judge in Sallisaw on Monday for his initial court appearance. Not-guilty pleas were entered on his behalf during the hearing, which was attended by a large number of family members and friends of the victims he is accused of killing. Drake has until the 7th of August to secure legal representation, failing which one will be appointed for him. Currently held without bond in Sequoyah County, Drake faces two charges of enhanced murder.

Following the deaths of two individuals in Gans, Oklahoma, Drake was arrested and booked into the Sequoyah County Detention Center. The arrest took place approximately 72 hours after investigators revealed that Drake was suspected of killing two people in Gans before fleeing to Arkansas. Law enforcement officers in Arkansas located Drake in the woods in Morrilton, around half a mile from the Motel 6 where he had been seen the previous Tuesday night. Subsequently, Drake was found in a hammock and taken into custody at the Conway County Detention Center.

Morrilton Mayor Allen Lipsmeyer expressed relief at Drake’s capture, stating, “This is great news. We’re a great community because of our police force. With this kind of guy, this caliber of guy, who’s killed four people in the last two months without any incident, nobody got hurt – that’s huge.” Lipsmeyer added, “Hopefully he will go away for a long time and won’t hurt anybody else. I mean, he’s not the kind of guy that needs to be out.” The impact of Drake’s actions was felt by residents such as Teresa Scroggins, who noted a palpable shift in the atmosphere of the town following the incidents.

In relation to the Alabama murder, Drake is believed to be connected to the death of 62-year-old Russell Thomas Andrews at the Alcoholics Anonymous building in Tuscaloosa on May 14, as per the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. Moving to the Oklahoma murders, Drake is suspected of killing a man in El Reno on Friday, June 14. The victim, Phillip Emerson, aged 56, was discovered deceased in a residence on Macomb Ave, with his vehicle reported missing. Drake then abandoned a truck, which was subsequently found in Sallisaw.

On a tragic Tuesday night, Drake allegedly took the lives of a man and a woman near Gans on Highway 64. The victims, identified as Tara Barnett Underwood and Taylor Sharp, were found inside a business. Underwood, a mother of three and engaged to a man with three children, was remembered fondly by her sister Tia Barnett, who described her as a “funny, bubbly, awesome girl that everyone knew.”

Drake was tracked to Morrilton, where one of the vehicles linked to him was located at a local motel. Authorities issued an emergency alert to residents warning them to be on the lookout for Drake, leading to his arrest in Morrilton the following morning. The ongoing legal proceedings may determine the fate of Stacy Lee Drake, with the potential for the death penalty or life imprisonment if he is convicted of the crimes he is accused of committing..
