Investigation Details

The investigation was initiated when a patrol deputy discovered a young girl near Watt Avenue and Winona Way in North Highlands on Sunday. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the girl was a victim of sex trafficking. The deputy then returned to the same area around 8 p.m. and discovered two more girls, both aged 17, wearing lingerie near a vehicle. These girls were also identified as victims of sex trafficking.

After further investigation by detectives from the sheriff’s special investigations bureau, it was revealed that the two girls were being trafficked by family friends, who were later identified as the married couple known to the teens as their “street parents.” The suspects were subsequently located and arrested on felony sex trafficking charges, with the arrest taking place early Monday.
